Tough as a Mother Makeup Bag
One of my fave sweatshirts and things to wear has the saying “Tough as a Mother” on it. It makes me feel strong and like I can take on the world… and really what mother can’t and won’t?
That’s why I decided to make this bag with the same saying on it as a Mother’s Day gift to myself and for a few girlfriends.
This bag can be made two different ways: One with the kids and one without.
Ingredients:
canvas tote bag or makeup bag
iron-on decal (I created mine with my Cricut machine and iron-on material)
Cricut Press or iron
fabric paint (optional)
foam brush (optional)
Instructions:
Create an iron-on transfer that says “Tough as a Mother.” You download my jpg file here and then I used my Cricut machine to make an iron-on transfer. Reminder, to print as a mirror so it goes onto your surface the correct way. Also, if using a Cricut machine, make sure the shiny part of your material is facing down when you go to cut.
Using an iron or Cricut Press or an iron, to transfer this to your bag and press down following the instructions for your iron-on material. If you don’t want the kids involved, this is where you stop and sport your very own bag! If not, read on.
If involving the kids, this is the time. Once the transfer is on and has cooled, have them take their foam brush and paint and go to town creating their own design! Use your mom or grandma’s favorite colors for an extra added bonus. They can add flowers or designs, or just have fun. The main thing is they are making something your mom or grandmother will love.
