DIY Flowers for Mom
Flowers are great from the garden or florist, however, they don’t tend to last very long and can be costly.
That’s why I love making all different kinds of flower crafts with the kids to give to the moms or grandmas in our lives.
A few days ago I showed you how to make these tissue paper flowers, but today I’m bringing you some of the other flower projects I’ve made with my kids so you too can make the mom in your life a bouquet of personalized flowers.
Paper Hand Lilies
These are extra personal because they include your child’s handprint.
Ingredients:
cardstock
glue dots
green pipe cleaner
yellow paper
scissors
ribbon (optional)
Instructions:
Trace your child or children’s hands onto paper. Cut out. Then using your fingers or a pencil, roll the fingers back slightly so they curl.
Take the hand and roll it into itself the opposite of how you curled the fingers to form a cone. Secure with a glue dot.
Take a strip of yellow paper and using scissors cut slits in it, making sure not to cut through the piece. Take a green pipe cleaner and add a glue dot to the top of the pipe cleaner. Wrap the yellow fringed paper around it and secure with another glue dot.
Add a pipe cleaner to the middle of the flower to finish.
Optional: Make several and secure with a ribbon to make a bouquet.
Paper Calla Lilies
These can hold special messages inside or a small gift.
Ingredients:
cardstock
scissors
green pipe cleaner
yellow paper
glue dots or hot glue
Instructions:
Start with an 8 1/2 x 11-inch piece of cardstock. Cut it so it is a wide triangle.
Take the widest points of the triangle and roll them into one another to create a cone. Secure with a glue dot or hot glue.
Take your yellow paper and cut a strip. Then using your scissors, cut slits into it to fringe it, not cutting through the paper.
Take a glue dot or hot glue and your pipe cleaner, dab a bit onto the end and wrap the yellow fringed paper around, securing at the end with another glue dot or hot glue.
Slip the pipe cleaner through the bottom of the paper cone and secure inside with a glue dot or hot glue.
Optional: Wrap them in kraft paper and tie with a ribbon like a real bouquet of flowers.
Tissue Paper Flowers
As I mentioned above, I love these tissue paper flowers because you can make so many different types, plus they are really fun to make. Full instructions here.
