Holiday Hair Bows
My daughter has curly, long hair, and bonus, she tolerates bows, in fact she actually requests them. This year, I decided to make a few of my own and share them with you here.
Holly Bow
Ingredients:
two different shades of green felt
red pom poms
good scissors
glue dots or hot glue
barrette blank
Instructions:
Start by downloading the holly template here. Cut one large holly from one green felt and one small holly from the other green felt.
Layer the smaller one on top of the larger holly and attach.
Attach the holly to the barrette blank. At the end add three red pom poms.
Candy Bow
hard candy in clear cellophane wrappers
glue dots or hot glue
barrette blank
Instructions:
Take a piece of candy or two (I like to use red, green, and white to keep it festive) and using your glue dot or hot glue, adhere them to the barrette blank. Let dry.
Gingerbread Bow
Ingredients:
brown felt
good scissors
skinny ribbon (optional)
buttons (optional)
pom poms (optional)
white ric rac (optional)
paper (black, pink, and white (optional)
glitter pen or white fabric pen (optional)
fabric glue or hot glue
red or green thick grosgrain ribbon
barrette blank or headband
Instructions:
Download the gingerbread template here. Trace it and cut it out from brown felt.
Decorate the gingerbread how you see fit. Buttons or pom poms for buttons on his or her belly, draw a face, stitch one, or I prefer to cut it out of paper. Add a small bow for a girl or ric rac around the feet and hands. Note: I also used paper for the ric rac, but you can always purchase skinny ric rac to use fewer steps.
Tie a bow with the grosgrain ribbon and attach it to the head for a gingerbread girl or to his neck if you want a gingerbread boy.
Add the gingerbread man to the middle of a hair bow. Note: You can make a hair bow yourself with a barrette blank, some hot glue or a glue dot, and a ribbon or purchase one ready made.
