Coloring Eggs 8 Ways
We love decorating Easter eggs and I’m always on the lookout for new ways to do it.
Organic Dying
A few years ago for a story I wrote, I tested out dying eggs with organic tea. My son wasn’t into it as much I was, but I loved the natural ingredients, and the muted colors they created.
Secret Messages
We always like using a white crayon and making secret messages and then dying them in solid or ombre colors.
Shaving Cream
Last year we tried the shaving cream method and loved it so we’re doing it again this year.
EggMazing
The year before we found EggMazing and also loved it so we continue to use that mess-free option as well.
Wix Stix
This year, we decided to use Chunkies Paint Sticks to color the eggs and we were pleasantly surprised at how much fun it was and how easy it is! I got into it as well and loved this method the best for its no-mess and creative outcome.
Spaced-Themed
We also did a new space-themed egg where you take concentrated dye and a bag and add a couple of drops of blue, shake and rub the egg in the bag, then take a couple of drops of green, repeat, and then red, and repeat. It makes a galaxy-like egg, which is out of this world.
Egg Mixer
We also tried this egg mixer I had bought a long time ago. It was the least successful of all of the techniques, but fun for the kids. You could easily replicate this method by adding an egg to a plastic jar with a few dots of dye and shaking gently.
Traditional Method
And then of course there are the traditional dye kits, which we are a big fan of here too!
