Egg and Chick Surprises
I love surprising my kiddos! In the past I’ve made the traditional crepe paper carrots, I’ve even purchased some party crackers, etc. But this year I decided to take a new spin on the surprises and I created these chick and bunny versions.
Ingredients:
Mod Podge
foam brush
wax paper
pink paper
white cardstock
orange paper
scissors
small surprises
glue dots, hot glue, or tape
Instructions:
Fill your ball with small surprises that your kiddos will like. For my son I filled it with LEGOS and for my daughter I filled it with cute accessories.
Close your plastic ball and offset the tabs on each side so it’s easier to open later.
Lay out your wax paper on your work surface and using your foam brush, cover the outside of the ball with Mod Podge.
Add pieces of white crepe paper for the bunny, and yellow crepe paper for the chick. Note: I cut them into about 6-inch pieces to make it easier to handle.
Covering the entire ball as you go, and flattening the pieces with more Mod Podge and your foam brush along the way. Let dry in between layers and repeat as needed.
Once the entire ball is covered and dried, add your googly eyes.
Then using glue dots, hot glue (with your parent’s help), or tape, add yellow feathers to the back of the chick’s head and cut out a beak from the orange paper and secure that under the googly eyes. For the bunny add white ears with a pink center to the back of the ball sticking up and a heart turned upside down for his nose on the front under the googly eyes.
Kids can then pull them open to reveal the surprises on Easter!
