Bug Crafts
We are big into nature in this house! My kids both went to preschool at a nature center, we love to garden, we talk about reusing and recycling a lot, and we compost. Needless to say, we can all do a bit more to protect Mother Earth.
We also love bugs, worms, and all creatures! That’s why I thought it would be fun to put together some bug activities for my little ones and I wanted to share them with you.
Ladybug Craft
Ingredients:
red paper
black paper
scissors
pipe cleaner
googly eyes
glue dots or glue stick
Instructions:
Take red and black paper and cut two big circles, the red one being slightly bigger than the black one.
Cut another black circle, smaller than the first for the head.
Using scissors cut a piece of “pie” out of the red circle. Glue the red circle on top of the black circle.
Glue the smaller black circle to the top of the red circle. Add googly eyes.
Cut out small black circles and glue them to the top of the red circle.
Take a pipe cleaner and cut it in half. Add black circles to the end of each pipe cleaner with a glue dot.
Attach the pipe cleaners to the underside of the ladybug head.

Other Ideas with Bugs
Below are some other ideas to get your children engaged in bug activities. You can spread them out over time, or pack it into a week or weekend, whatever works best for your kiddos and you!
Bug Sensory Bin
Add sand, or kinetic sand to a bin.
Add plastic bugs, rocks, and some dirt. Faux flowers or plants and sticks add to the playtime.
I also love to pick up bug boxes and exploring kits, that I usually find at the Dollar Store.
