Valentine Wreath How To
We have a wreath on our front door all year long. I think it’s a nice way to welcome visitors and signals the change of the seasons and holidays at our home. But often times wreaths can be very expensive or really ugly!
That’s why I often like to make my own and it’s a great project to get the kids in on as seen at Christmas time.
Valentine’s Day is no different! Having looked far and wide for a non-glittery, non-tacky option, I decided to make my own several years ago.
This version could easily be done with paper hearts, but at the time I decided to use felt hearts. Whichever you decide to use, it is a simple and in my opinion, non-tacky Valentine’s Day wreath.
Ingredients:
styrofoam wreath form
grosgrain ribbon
hot glue
felt or paper hearts
sewing machine (optional)
push pins (optional)
Instructions:
Start by wrapping the wreath form with grosgrain ribbon. Hot glue the start of the ribbon and wrap around it continuing all the way around the wreath. Glue sporadically. I used pink 1 1/2 inch wide ribbon for mine, but any color would work. Note: I would recommend a wide ribbon, it goes faster and takes less ribbon to cover the form.
Once the wreath is wrapped, take felt or paper and cut several hearts out with good scissors.
This next stop is optional… to make my hearts more 3 dimensional, I sewed two hearts together down the center using my sewing machine. You can certainly just leave them as singular hearts.
Take your hot glue again and attach the hearts onto the wrapped wreath form overlapping the hearts as you go.
Add another piece of ribbon to the top and loop it, secure with hot glue or push pins to hang.
