St. Patrick’s Day Activities for the Kids
Here are a couple of fun ideas for St. Patrick’s Day! These are easily modified depending on what you have at home. Don’t have gold coins for the scavenger hunt, no problem, all you need is some green paper to make shamrocks!
Pot O’ Wishes
This one is super simple and one that I had so much fun doing with my kiddos. We took black paper, cut it out into a pot. Then using strips of colored paper we wrote wishes on them and glued them to the inside of the pot. Then using glittery paper and a circle punch we made gold coins and glued them on.
Gold Coin Scavenger Hunt
You can purchase chocolate coins or gold coins inexpensively at most craft stores, the Dollar Store, or online.
I like to pair them with clues on shamrocks I have cut out and usually, there is a fun prize at the end!
Leprechaun Trap
I got this particular trap at Target for a few dollars, but if they’re out of it, no worries! All you need to make your own is a box (shoebox or otherwise) and some imagination. Let the kids decorate it with shamrocks, glitter glue, and rainbows!
I have made some silly ones in the past, but I found an awesome one at Target for a few dollars. We set it up and the kids can’t wait to see if we catch a Leprechaun!
I also love making sugar cookies with Lucky Charms as a special treat!
On St. Patrick’s Day morning I will add a bit of green food coloring to their milk for cereal, eggs, or pancake batter for a bit of green to wish them a top o’ the mornin!
I’ve also put together some rainbow crafts here and a Leprechaun hat you can easily make.
