Messy Painted Ornament

Painted Ornament The Crafty Mommy

Every year my kids and I make an ornament to make and give to those we love who surround us. This year, I struggled with what to make. Well with the snowstorm outside I thought it would be the perfect day to experiment with the kids.

I think we can all agree, this year has been a mess! And toilet paper ornaments aside, I couldn’t think of a prettier way to show this year than with this messy painted ornament.

It’s so simple and fun to make and although this year has been a mess, this shows there can be beauty that comes out of messes. Hopefully 2021 will be only be messy, when we’re being creative, not because of COVID.

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Take the cap off of your ornament and using the paint bottles start to drizzle a bit of paint while turning the ornament. There is no precise way to do this, just have fun.

  2. Put the cap back on and shake the ornament to mix up the paint. If you need to (which I did), take the cap off and repeat step 1-2. You can also sprinkle some glitter in at this point if you choose.

  3. Write 2020 or a message on the ornament with a permanent marker or leave as is.

  4. Tie a ribbon to the top and hang or give!
