Halloween Treats
Halloween may look a little different this year, but as I have said in the past, it doesn’t have to be less fun!
It is our favorite holiday around our house and we intend to celebrate it any which way we can, while also being safe.
To go along with all of the fun things we have planned, I am going all out on the treats. Of course there will be the traditional Mummy Hot Dogs, but we’re also going to incorporate some other fun treats (no tricks).
First up are individually wrapped Halloween bark.
Halloween Candy Bark
Ingredients:
candy melts (two bags for each bark)
assorted candy (gummy worms or anything creepy)
assorted sprinkles and candy decorations
microwave-safe bowl
wax paper
spatula
baking sheet
Instructions:
Put the candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl and heat at 50% for one minute. Stir and heat for another 30 seconds at 50%. Stir and repeat until they are all melted.
Place a piece of wax paper down on a baking sheet and pour the melted candy melts onto it, spreading it into a thin layer (about 1/4 inch thick).
Then sprinkle the assorted candy and treats around and let harden. Break apart and place in favor bags.
Easy, and the kids can totally help because there is no baking!
Next up we’re making a fun punch for the kiddos (and adults).
Spooky Punch
Ingredients:
4 quarts cranberry juice cocktail
2 cups pineapple juice
6 oz frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
1/2-1 (2 liter) bottle of lemon-lime soda
4-6 cups of vodka (for adults only obviously)
food safe gloves for the icy hands
Instructions:
Pour all of the ingredients into a large punch bowl and mix together. I like to add the soda just before everyone partakes so it’s fizzy.
Fill the gloves with water and tie off. Let freeze and just before serving cut away the gloves and add the icy hands to the punch for effect. I also added pretend spiders to make it extra spooky!
Monster Popcorn Hands
No party is ever set without monster popcorn hands. I found these great witch’s hand bags at Michael’s, but I also love to make the traditional ones with candy corn fingernails and a spider ring. Just fill either with popcorn, secure, and hand out as a snack they can enjoy immediately or later.
Zombie Cupcakes
And finally, no Halloween party is complete without something sweet to eat at the party! I love these kits that I also found at Michael’s to make spooky, monster cupcakes. I used a boxed mix for the cake and pre-made frosting (easy and delicious, I will take both). Then you just dip the frosted cupcake in a bowl of chocolate sprinkles, add a mummy hand and Happy Halloween!
