Easy Ghost Decorations
Ghosts are easy and fun to make, and don’t have to be scary at all if you have really little ones in your house.
Here, I’m showing you how to create two different kinds of ghost decorations that you can make in all different sizes (to make a friendly family of ghosts) or as many as you want in one size to hang around the yard or the house.
The first one only takes paper, scissors, and a marker - simple and I bet everyone has all of these materials in their homes right now!
Ingredients:
white paper (I used cardstock that measures 8.5x11 and 12x12, but you can use any type of paper or any size you have)
black marker
scissors
paper clip (optional)
string to hang it
Instructions:
Take your paper and starting in the middle draw a continuous line all the way round the paper in a circular motion as shown. The middle will be the head of the ghost.
Starting on the outside, take your scissors and cut all the way along the line you have drawn until you get to the starting point of the line in the center. Note: I like to round the edges of the paper to make it more smooth.
Using your marker, draw a face on the ghost’s head. I usually just use three circles (two small for the eyes and one larger one for the mouth), but you can draw glasses on it, teeth, a funny face, or eyelashes - use your creativity!
Using the tip of your scissors or the tip of a paper clip, punch a small hole through the top of the ghost’s head and thread your string through this and tie to hang your ghost.
The second ghost is just as simple and can be made two different ways depending on if you want to make a trip to the craft store or not.
I love to make these in different sizes as well to create a family of ghosts and hang them outside for the holiday.
Ingredients:
styrofoam balls in various sizes or white balloons in various sizes (I like to use the styrofoam balls because they are sturdier especially for hanging outdoors)
black marker
a screw or i-hook
cheese cloth
string
Instructions:
Take your styrofoam ball and marker and draw a ghost face on it. I usually do three circles, two small for the eyes and one large for the mouth. If you are using a balloon, do the same thing with the tie at the top.
Cut or tear a piece of cheese cloth large enough to cover the styrofoam ball or ballon and hang down. Cover the ball or balloon with the cheese cloth.
If you are using a balloon, take your string and tie it around the tie of the balloon and cheese cloth to hang. If you are using a styrofoam ball, take your screw or i-hook, center it on the top of the ball and cheese cloth and twist it into the ball to secure. Tie the string around this to hang.
