Sparkler-Free Sparklers

Sparkler-Free Sparklers The Crafty Mommy

I love the 4th of July, but fireworks make me seriously nervous, especially with the kids (eek).

I want them to have fun and join in all of the festivities, but without the danger. That’s why I put together these sparkler-free sparklers (or 4th of July wands).

Ingredients:

  • wooden dowels

  • patriotic washi tape

  • mylar streamers

  • scissors

  • hot glue

  • bells (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Take the mylar streamers and cut a 8-10” section in each color - I used red, white, and blue. Layer them one on top of the other and wrap the ends around the end of the wooden dowel. Secure with hot glue.

  2. Take the washi tape and start wrapping it around where the streamers meet the wooden dowel. Secure the end with a dab of hot glue.

  3. Continue wrapping the tape to cover the dowel until you get to the end. Secure with another dab of hot glue.

  4. Optional: If you want it to make noise when they shake it, add a bit of glue to some bells and attach them to the inside of the mylar streamers at the top of the dowel. Shake what your mama gave you and ring in the 4th of July!
